The Fight - Can't look at your plate , vegan hardcore

Vegan Band: http://www.myspace.com/thafight

Can't look at your plate

Can't look, can't look! Can't look at your plate!
My dearest wife here comes a romantic dinner. To celebrate my love I serve you this baked duck. True love deserves that.
Can't look at your plate! My dearest son here comes the soup for you, boiled on a piece of meat. Just a little piece of meat.
My soup won't be a cemetery. My plate won't be a coffin and you will not get with dead bodies to my heart!
Can't look, can't look, can't look! Can't look at your plate!

Martin Eduard Staudinger 1842-1910, antivivisectionist

(Note to myself: I don't know why I had made this blog so messy, I don't want to delete it, I guess I just keep on adding to the mess.)

I've recently visited a German anti-vivisectionists grave again. His tombstone is quite faded by now. I found a reference to his grave and tombstone inscription on someones site:

146 Grabmal für Martin Eduard Staudinger (1842-1910), Kämpfer gegen die Vivisektion, Gewann C 59. ( http://www.bomas.de/buecher/brauchitsch-frankfurt.htm )

A couple of years back a friend and I tried to do some research about Mr. Staudinger, and we therefore visited the citiy archives, but without any luck. He shares a family grave with his grandmother, I think her surname is Behrens, but I'm not 100%ly sure now.

the inscription on his tombstone says:

'Im unermüdlichen Kampfe gegen die Vivisektion und für die Rechte der Tiere' = In the untiresome fight against vivisection and for the rights of animals. A dog who holds up one of his front paws is beautifully carved into the stone.

Amazing.

Zebra - Bears

In the middle of winter
The trees are bare and the bears are hibernating
The only sound in the forest
Is the sound of snow heard crashing to the ground
And in the middle of loving
I hope you'll find a place in your heart for them
They really can't do us any harm
It is only us who can do harm to them

But there's an animal that winter won't affect at all
He sits by fireplaces waiting for the winter's fall
He owns guns and oh you know he's got that gun in his hand
He's a man and oh he's got that precious thing in his hand

So in the middle of loving
I hope you'll find a place in your heart for them
When it's cold and the grass is gold
All the animals take shelter as they hide
And when an animal can't find shelter
Some time winter takes over and he dies

But there's an animal that winter won't affect at all
He sits by fireplaces waiting for the winter's fall
He owns guns and oh you know he's got that gun in his hand
He's a man and oh he's got that precious life in his hand

Temple of the Dog - Hunger Strike

I dont mind stealing bread
From the mouths of decadence
But I cant feed on the powerless
When my cups already overfilled
But its on the table
The fire is cooking
And theyre farming babies
While the slaves are working
The blood is on the table
And their mouths are choking
But Im growing hungry

Nothing special

I wanted to write something about my "likes" and "dislikes" on this blog for quite a while now, but I simply haven't come across anything that would have fitted either category. But maybe if I try to think hard I can come up with something that - although not fitting my two categories here - feels to me like 'hey I should really mention this to anybody who stumbles across this entry.

By picking the theme of the entry I might EVEN make somebody stumble across it (possibly). So what could that be????

a great poetry next:

a poet who fits unter "right now" and "poets I want to mention" would be Georg Heym , one of my favourite poems happens to be by him and it starts, I believe, with: 'Und so mancher der lässt sich in seinem Elend versinken' - And someone let's herself sink into her misery...

ok these both thing seem to be contraries, I could maybe put something in the middle of both or add a third other "contrary" ...

Dot, dot, dot

I can't think of anything.

Dutch Band: THE EX http://www.theex.nl/

I love this song: "A sense of tumour"

on:

DISTURBING DOMESTIC PEACEcat.no. EX 004/005D (The Ex)released in November 1980recorded at Joke's Koeienverhuurbedrijf in Schellingwoude, NLproduced by Dolf Planteydt

THE EX: A SENSE OF TUMOUR (1980)

I got a tumour
in my brain
it's growing very fast
I want my health again

A tumour grows
in your brain
what do you mean
and how come
if it's so
what did you do
anyway

It doesn't matter
do not complain
no one is perfect
but at least you still got brains
we all know prosperity has its price
concessions must be made to magnify its size
but we got the power to control machines
we wouldn't take the risk to endanger human beings

I got a tumour still
it lives on brains
thanks to your factory
it makes me sick

Our factory makes you sick
what do you mean
and how come
if it's so
what did you do
anyway

it doesn't matter
do not complain
there is no danger
for your health
and neither for your brains
for we take all measures we can take
and if not we'll wipe out that mistake
our investigations show rumours are just lies
so shut up to sing that song of smog gets in your eyes

Who wants my tumour
I got enough of it
it is free
thanks to our welfare-state
who wants my tumour
it eats my brains
I took some aspirin
but nothing changed

We don't wanna hear no more about disease germs
stop this nonsense or we'll never come to terms
don't forget we give employment to a lot of men
if we'd change our attitudes what would happen then
we would never work here if we'd risk our health
don't you realize we add to mankind's wealth
and time is money so stop with your complaints
cause we produce the medicine to cure your tumoured brains
